There is an advice, saying placing an opt-in box in blog posts is necessary if you want to build your internet business. Opt-in box will capture your visitors name and email address. However this will only happen when the visitors like what they read or they are going to get something more valuable in return.
But this opt-in box is really necessary in blog posts?
I have been asking myself this question over and over again. Well, I don’t want to make any mistake. So, I thought of testing it.
First, I need to have something valuable. Something that my visitors want so badly that they are willing to give me their name and email address. You can see that I’m blogging about my journey to becoming an internet entrepreneur. I also included my lifestyle, internet marketing tips, local news and some thoughts.
I can’t just give everything… It doesn’t work this way. If you give everything, you will get nothing back. So, be specific and focus. I can give away free ebooks on starting an internet business. Giving out some templates or software maybe.
Secondly, I need to get an autoresponder. This is easy. I already have one and quite reasonable. I pay $9.90/month for that service. Not bad and it has all the features required to work in internet business model. Sorry, guys. I’m not doing any advertising or endorsement here. If you want to know which autoresponder I’m using, just comment in this post.
Then, I will put in opt-in box code in every new post. Voila! I have opt-in box in my blog posts. But… what if I want to remove them. Am I going to edit every post I published and remove manually.
Oh… no… No way I’m going to do that. I definitely don’t want to waste my time on such tedious job.
Solution for this is simply get a plugin that will store your html code and has the ability to automatically display your code on every post. Now, that’s cool. I’m going to find out if there is any such plugin available.
Enough planning. Now I need to get working.
